Last week, Bartek met me in the city for lunch. He was on a much needed two week break from work and I made him promise to meet me at least twice in the city and he made good on it. We grabbed some brick oven pizza and decided we needed a little something sweet to wash it down. I had walked by Victory Garden often before without ever stopping in but the day had finally come. It was a warm 80 degrees, perfect weather for ice cream. There are a few ice cream places within those few blocks in the Village. I go to Phileo Yogurt all of the time and Grom (gelato) is just way too expensive. It was time for something new.

- Hi! My name is Chrissi. I live in Hoboken, home of the "Cake Boss" and the birthplace of baseball and Frank Sinatra. With my husband, infant son and extraordinary super-dog we are set to take over the world... of mommy blogging (Well, at least I'm trying...they are tagging along!) I love to bake and I share Sweet recipes I try every Sunday. I post every night (or at least I try to post every night!) around midnight. The only time, as a new mother, that I have to myself.

Can't Beat It
As much as I can't stand Hoboken (the impossible parking, high rent, snooty attitudes, I can go on and on and on....), this is one thing I'm going to miss when I leave
You can't beat this view! Actually, you can....
But we won't be moving to the German Alps any time soon!
I need to enjoy the city while I still live so close!

Umbrella Etiquette
![]() |

There are a few unwritten rules in the city about rainy days and umbrellas. And they are:
*Don't take up too much sidewalk space. No golf umbrellas in the city, please! I work in an area that doesn't have the ridiculous foot traffic that Midtown has. But even with all the space I have on the sidewalk, I get so annoyed when I get stuck behind someone with a golf umbrella. There's no room to get around them! And it always happens that the people with the golf umbrellas are the ones that love to stroll along...
*which brings me to the 2nd rule...Don't walk slow when you have an umbrella! Hello! It's raining out! Why do you want to be enjoying this wet and cold day?! Unless you start breaking out in song and dance, a la Singing in the Rain, put the pedal to the metal...
*once the umbrella is turned inside-out and ripped to shreds (like the one below), its time to give up.

Do you ever get annoyed by people who don't play by the umbrella rules?
