About Me

My photo
Hi! My name is Chrissi. I live in Hoboken, home of the "Cake Boss" and the birthplace of baseball and Frank Sinatra. With my husband, infant son and extraordinary super-dog we are set to take over the world... of mommy blogging (Well, at least I'm trying...they are tagging along!) I love to bake and I share Sweet recipes I try every Sunday. I post every night (or at least I try to post every night!) around midnight. The only time, as a new mother, that I have to myself.

Happy Anniversary, My Love

Today is mine and Bartek's second anniversary. As the cliche goes, I can't believe it's been two years already. Our wedding feels like just yesterday. It was by far, the most perfect, most memorable and most fun day of my life. I just went through a good chunk of our wedding photos and I'd love to share them. There are a lot, but these were some pretty special moments of our day.

Sweet Tooth Monday-Frozen Peanut Butter Pie

I'm sorry I haven't been posting too much lately! Life, aka my incredibly active son, has been keeping me very busy that I'm too tired to post at night. Since we are taking off of work this week, my goal has been to try to get back to my blogging. And to start it off right, we have a delicious frozen peanut butter pie...

Happy Father's Day, Dad!

I know it's almost the end of Father's Day, but I had to sneak this in, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to the greatest Dad in the world. My Dad is the most caring and loving man I know. He's always looking out for me and making sure I have the best in life. I feel like I have a lot of his traits have passed down to me, as I'm now a mother.

On my wedding day....somehow we managed to not cry!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to the best husband a girl could ever ask for. Bartek, you are such a special, loving person. Landon is so lucky to have you as his dad. I'm looking forward to the years ahead as Landon grows and you become a role model for him. Happy Daddy's Day!

Love at first sight...

Beach Baby

Our dreams of having an uber-blonde, tanned-skin surfer baby have been dashed. Just like his aversion to the pool (killing our "next-Michael Phelps" dreams), Landon also hates the ocean! I'm hoping it's just that he loves his warm baths so much that he can't stand the cold water. I'm counting on it, Mr. L! What will I do if my son is afraid of the water?!

Landon was great on the beach when we were holding him, but the sand just weirded him out. I'm sure he was thinking "Why is the ground hot and why does it move?"

Hopefully he grows out of it. While we wait for this to happen, enjoy some photos from Landon's first shore trip...

Sweet Tooth Sunday-Pucker Pies

This week's Sweet Tooth is something I thought of myself, they are cute little tart pies, hence the name "Pucker Pie". I've been on a bit of a health kick lately, although you wouldn't know that if you saw last week's post. But I have been trying to lighten things up a bit. This week's treat isn't terribly bad for you. It has fresh (previously frozen) fruit, just a little bit of sugar, and just a little bit of whipped cream to balance out the tartness.

Check out my pucker pies...

What Milestones??

I googled "baby milestones" today and I was shocked to find what my ten month old should be doing by now.

According to Parenting.com, he should have been hugging by five months. A few days ago, he did something that sort of resembled a hug--he grabbed me and kind of threw his body on me. But until a few days ago, he never did anything like it! He's five months behind!

Children's Literacy

I've been so lucky to work for a company that stresses the importance of literacy and have brought this philosophy back home with me. Everyday I see so many people who are passionate for books and getting those books in the hands of kids, especially those who are disadvantaged. It's so encouraging to see how much people care about our future.
At 2 months old, reading his favorite book
Today, I attended a conference of publishers from all over the globe and as I was walking around the booths, the main thought in my head was what books would be good for Landon. He already has a library of at least fifty books and it just keeps growing. I've been exposed to some really amazing children's books and they are the one thing that I don't really hesitate in buying.

Besides promoting literacy, reading a book is a great way to set a bedtime routine with infants. Our ideal night-time schedule is: dinner, playtime, bath, book, bottle and bed. It doesn't always happen that way, but I do know that Landon looks forward to book time. He loves to look at the pictures and hear my voice reading the text.
from Penguin Group
His favorite book is Llama Llama Red Pajama. The text is so rhythmic and rhyming that it makes it a fun, sing-songy read for parents. And of course I love it because it shows a child's need and love for his mother. All of the Llama Llama books have made Bartek jealous. He's wondering when "Daddy Llama" is going to come into the picture.

What are some of your favorite children's books?
